Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan recently shared some updates about Babar Azam’s marriage, his wife, and their friendship in an interview.

Rizwan, who is the captain of Multan Sultans in PSL9, mentioned that he encouraged Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi to get married. Rizwan said:

“I told Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi to get married, and Babar Azam will get married soon too. Marriage is a command from Allah, and the bond between husband and wife is very sacred.”

Talking about his friendship with Babar Azam, Rizwan said:

“Babar and I have a very positive relationship. Sometimes, we stay up late talking and giving each other advice about life. Usually, we message before entering someone’s room, but Babar and I can enter each other’s rooms anytime because of our friendship.”

Rizwan also shared his thoughts on the PSL, noting that in the past, cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Sialkot were known for producing cricket players, but now Multan is also contributing significantly.

Rizwan added:

“Pakistan’s domestic cricket has been producing fast bowlers for a long time. There was a time when Karachi, Lahore, and Sialkot produced great players, but now Multan is doing the same. Players like Ehsanullah, Asif Ali, and Mohammad Ali have emerged from Multan Sultans.”

“I enjoy being called a cricketer. Performances can vary, but I find confidence in poems written on trucks. These days, I look to Multan Sultans coach Abdur Rahman for confidence. He has faced many challenges and even received threats for becoming the coach of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Rizwan said.

The wicketkeeper-batsman emphasized the importance of education alongside cricket, citing players like Shan Masood and Mohammad Hafeez as examples.

“My education is limited, but I got admitted to Islamia College. I tried to study more but couldn’t because of cricket. Education is important along with cricket. Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez, and Shan Masood are examples. There should be sports scholarships in Pakistan’s educational system,” the 31-year-old Multan Sultans skipper added.
