Bangladesh Announces Squad for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to be held in the United States and the West Indies. The team will be led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, with Taskin Ahmed serving as the vice-captain.

Taskin Ahmed, who is currently recovering from a side strain, is expected to regain fitness in time for the tournament despite missing the preparatory T20I series against the USA.

Key Inclusions and Exclusions

Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan returns to the squad, marking his record-ninth appearance in the T20 World Cup. Shakib and India’s Rohit Sharma are the only players to have participated in every T20 World Cup since its inception in 2007.

In a notable change, young pacer Tanzim Hasan has been selected over Mohammad Saifuddin. Chief Selector Gazi Ashraf mentioned that Tanzim’s performance and fielding capabilities gave him the edge over Saifuddin, who struggled with delivering yorkers in the death overs.
